The organisation of European Parliamentarians with Africa (AWEPA) occupies a central role as a project partner. A close and continuous cooperation exists between the North-South Dialogue of Parliaments and the AWEPA offices in Amsterdam and Maputo.

AWEPA as an international organisation of parliamentarians aims to foster Africa’s development through the support of democratisation and of an inter-continental dialogue on the level of parliaments. AWEPA keeps Africa’s issues on the agendas of European politics. Initially founded as an anti-Apartheid movement AWEPA is engaged in strengthening African parliaments on core functions (oversight, representation, and legislation), election supervision and the consolidation of peace.
